Who we are
About Save Albania
An independent documentation project tracking environmental threats to Albania's protected areas, coastline, islands, rivers, wetlands and public land.
"Our land. Our nature. Our future. We document the truth so it cannot be hidden."
What we do
Facts first
Every claim is labelled: Verified, Partly Verified, or Needs Documents. Nothing is published as confirmed without documentary evidence.
Sources cited
Official permits, court records, EU reports, government decisions and scientific publications carry the most weight. Media reports are used as leads, not conclusions.
Protected areas tracked
We document development projects, permit decisions, legal changes and environmental assessments affecting Albania's IUCN-designated landscapes.
Public submissions reviewed
We accept and review documents, photos, videos, maps and witness accounts from the public. All submitted material is checked before publication.
International readership
Our work is used by journalists, EU institutions, NGOs, researchers, legal observers and international readers tracking Albania's environmental compliance.
EU accession context
We track how Albania's environmental governance measures against the requirements of Chapter 27 — the EU accession chapter that covers nature and biodiversity.
Our methodology
Permits, laws, EU reports, court records, company registrations and government decisions are the primary source layer.
IUCN, BirdLife, WWF, PPNEA, EcoAlbania and peer-reviewed scientific literature are used to assess ecological significance.
If a document confirms a fact, it is labelled Verified. If sources conflict or documentation is incomplete, Partly Verified. If a claim lacks documents, Needs Documents.
If you have better information, a stronger source or a document that changes the record, submit it. We update records when the evidence warrants it.
Areas we track
Albania is history, nature, land, sea and people.
Let's protect what matters. For today and for tomorrow.
