Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners has maintained a low profile on Albania since the protests began. Kushner has not given interviews on the Albania situation. He has not addressed the SPAK criminal investigation into the land titles. His firm's standard response to press inquiries — where responses have been given at all — has been to defend the investment as a legitimate development that will benefit Albania economically. No representative of Affinity Partners has publicly engaged with the environmental arguments, the legal questions about the environmental impact assessment, or the EU's call for a construction moratorium.

The Trump family's silence on the substance of the protests is itself a communications choice — and one that carries risks. It has not stayed local. US members of Congress — particularly those critical of the Trump family's private business dealings since returning to office — have taken notice. Several Democratic members of Congress have publicly commented on the Albania situation. The pattern draws obvious comparisons to earlier scrutiny of Kushner's $2 billion investment from the Saudi Public Investment Fund — scrutiny that questioned whether his private business dealings were influenced by his time in the White House.
